Kolkata, 16th March, 2011: West Bengal has given birth to many a talent in the fields of literature, art and culture. To promote and encourage art and upcoming talented artistes of Kolkata, Magma Fincorp Limited, one of India's leading retail asset finance companies is holding a two day Painters' Workshop in the city.

The Magma Painters' Workshop, which began today, has 11 promising city artistes colouring the canvases with their unique imagination. The workshop was graced by renowned danseuse and actress Ms Jaya Seal Ghosh & noted painter Mr Wasim Kapoor.

"Magma has always encouraged and nurtured talents in the field of art. We are holding Magma Painters' Workshop for the past four years in Kolkata and the participants have always come out with their creative best. We have also taken this activity on a national level during the current financial year and have already arranged painting workshops in Cochin, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Chandigarh & Bengaluru. We plan to take this workshop to other part of the country too in the coming financial year to provide a platform to the young artists to showcase their talent," said Mr Kaushik Sinha, Associate Vice President, Communications & Administration, Magma Fincorp Limited.

The participating artists are Prasanta Debnath, Happy Dutta, Bikash Das, Jahir Hasan, Saptarshi Nandy, Shilpi Acharya, Somnath Raha, Chaitali Mallick, Sadhana Naskar, Bipul Roy & Mayukh Chatterjee - all bright amateur artists of the city.
