Kolkata, 10th September, 2011: Magma Fincorp Limited, the leading asset finance company of the country, today hosted the first Magma Soccer Mania in Kolkata, an initiative to bring some of the largest automobile manufacturers and dealers together on a common platform to enjoy soccer. The event was graced by the renowned footballers Cheema Okorie, Alvito D' Cunha & Douglas De Silva as special guests. Mr. Ashutosh Shukla, COO, Magma Fincorp kick started the inaugural edition of this exciting soccer tournament.

Magma organized this one day invitational football tournament for all leading Automobile manufacturers & dealers of Kolkata at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Southern Avenue. The event witnessed 20 teams shedding their formal attire and putting on their football boots to compete for this coveted cup played under floodlights. This six a side tournament was played following the international format with smaller goal posts on a smaller ground size.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Ashutosh Shukla, COO, Magma Fincorp Limited said, "Throughout the year we interact with the valued manufacturers and dealers whose untiring efforts help the automobile and the finance industry move forward. The Magma Soccer Mania initiative was to bring the manufacturers & dealers of the city on a common platform, beyond work and have fun. The excitement witnessed amongst the participants is indeed heartening. We plan to take this initiative across key locations in the country in the coming days."

Magma also felicitated Tapas Naskar - the upcoming young talent of Kolkata during this tournament. Despite his financial constraints and unfavorable conditions, Tapas has made it big because of his passion, exuberance and enthusiasm for the game. A popular name amongst the soccer lovers today, Tapas is currently a part of the East Bengal Junior team.

The tournament witnessed 20 teams from Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, French Motors, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Telcom, Lexus Motors, GNB Motors, Bhandari Automobiles, Sree Automobiles, KB Motors, Jayashree Automobiles, PS Earthmovers, JR Sales & Services, Saini Earthmovers, Royal Motors, Future Automobiles & Dewar's Garage sweating it out and putting their best foot forward.
