Magma Celebrates World Environment Day
- Supports The Initiative Of Punarnabha Bangla & Art Of Living -

Magma Fincorp Limited as a part of its CSR initiative celebrated the World Environment Day along with Punarnabha Bangla, a civil society initiative and Art of Living by organizing a tree plantation and cleanliness drive at Jodhpur Park, Kolkata.
In all, 100 trees were planted in the area on the day and throughout this month there are plans to plant more trees in different parts of the city. The event was attended by author Sunil Gangopadhyay, actresses Chandreyi Ghosh & Rimjhim Mitra, cricketer Devang Gandhi, TV anchor and actress Saswati Guhathakurata, senior officials from Magma Fincorp Limited and members of Punarnabha Bangla and Art of Living. The people living in this locality played a major role by coming forward and supporting this initiative to mark the World Environment Day.
"World Environment Day is also a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. We at Magma have always volunteered for such causes which benefits the society as a whole," said Mr Dinesh Chandna, CIO, Magma Fincorp Limited.
At Magma, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a medium to meet the social economic, environmental and ethical responsibilities. Magma has partnered with Friends of Tribal Society for its Literacy Project. It has adopted 13 schools in six tribal areas of Jamshedpur, Raipur, Jabalpur, Ranchi, Siliguri and Bhubaneshwar under the unique Ekal Vidyalaya Scheme. Magma also conducts a host of programmes across the country, comprising health and eye-check-up camps and blood donation camps. Magma also promotes and encourages art and organises Painters workshop in various cities of the country. The company also organises annual painting competition for the children and also takes out inmates of the old age homes for Pandal hopping during the Durga Puja. There are many such initiatives where Magma is actively involved.
Punarnabha Bangla, founded in June, 2010, is committed to protect and preserve the environment through its various social activities throughout the year. They have conducted a number of youth conferences, youth leadership training programs, a workshop for under-privileged women on health & sanitary hygiene, medical and blood donation camps and several other social and cultural initiatives in different parts of Bengal.
World Environment Day is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. World Environment Day celebration began in 1972 and has grown to become the one of the main vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.
